Liverpool Vs Everton: 247th Merseyside Derby Will Be The 5th Victory Of The Reds
JAKARTA - Anfield Stadium will be the stage for the 247th Merseyside derby between defending champions of the English League Liverpool against their city rivals, Everton, on Saturday 20 September.
This prestigious meeting was again held after the last duel in April, when Diogo Jota's late goal ensured a narrow 1-0 victory for the Reds at Anfield.
Liverpool again showed the habit of scoring late goals to win. The last match in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid ended 3-2 with Virgil van Dijk's header in the 92nd minute, as well as a gift of coach Arne Slot's 47th birthday. That is the fifth time from five games this season where the Reds need a goal in the 83rd minute or more to ensure victory.

Statistically, 29% of the 90th or more-minute goals scored by the Premier League team this season came from Liverpool (4 out of 14 goals). Three of their Premier League four games this season were even set by extra goals, including Mohamed Salah's 95th-minute penalty in a 1-0 win at Burnley's headquarters last week.
Liverpool are currently top of the table with 12 perfect points, the only team that always wins. If you beat Everton, the Reds will start five straight wins in the Premier League for the third time.
Their home record against Everton also impressed: losing just once to the last 28 meetings at Anfield (win 17, series 10), including four straight wins since the 0-2 defeat in February 2021.
On the other hand, Everton began to rise after losing their first week against Leeds United. David Moyes' men took seven points from the next three matches and advanced to the third round of the League Cup. They won in a row over Brighton (2-0) and Wolves (3-2) before being held to a 0-0 draw by Aston Villa last week.
Although firmly at the back with four clean sheets from five competitive games this season, Everton are still having problems with finishing. Merseyside derby statistics did not side with them: just two wins from the last 29 Premier League meetings against Liverpool (series 14, lost 13), and failed to score in five of the latest seven matches.
Moyes himself has a bad record at Anfield: 20 times coming there in the Premier League without a win (series 6, losing 14). But there is a glimmer of hope, as Everton are strong enough in this year's away game with six wins from 11 league games (series 2, losing 3), all achieved in 2025.
In this derby, Liverpool only lost Curtis Jones who was still injured. Alexander Isak's new recruit appeared 58 minutes when his full debut against Atletico and had the chance to come back down, although Hugo Ekitike was also ready to start. Mohamed Salah almost certainly played, while Alexis Mac Allister could return to the midfield to replace Szoboszlai or Gravenberch.
In the Everton camp, Jarrad Branthwaite is still absent, while Vitaliy Mykolenko is doubtful. James Garner is likely to remain played as an emergency left-back. Jack Grealish (the best Premier League player in August) and Iliman Ndiaye will fill the wing sector, while Beto and Thierno Barry compete for the main striker position.
With an impressive performance at the start of the season and a strong record against Everton, Liverpool are favorite to win their fifth straight win. Everton, which is solid on the defense, could be a hassle, but the Reds are believed to be showing the mentality of the champion again to keep the record for the perfect 2025/26 season.
