Titan Huayou Project Confirmed To Launch Early November 2025
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has ensured that the electric vehicles (EV) battery ecosystem project between Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt and PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) will soon be groundbreaking at the end of October or early November 2025.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ahmad Erani Yustika said this plan deviated from the initial target in September 2025.
"That's Titan, isn't it? It seems like it's the end of October or early November. That's about it," said Erani, who also serves as Secretary of the Task Force for the Acceleration of National Energy Downstreaming and Resilience when met at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Friday, September 19.
However, Erani did not elaborate further on the reasons for the resignation of this giant project. But previously the position of President Director of PT Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC) had experienced a void after Toto Nugroho was caught in a legal case recently.
Erani said that currently the position of president director of IBC has been filled by new officials so that this project can run immediately.
"It looks like it is, IBC, yes. There are already directors," he continued.
Previously, the government broke an agreement with a technology company from South Korea, LG Energy Solution in the Titan project and was later replaced by a Chinese company, Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Co.
This project covers upstream to downstream, from mining, smelters, HPAL, precursors, cathodes, battery cells to battery recycling.
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia revealed the reason for the government behind the resignation of a South Korean company, LG Energy Solution in the Indonesian electric vehicle battery ecosystem (EV) project.

Bahlil said the reason behind LG's resignation was because the government was taking steps to nominate LG's contract on the Titan project.
This is because the company from the country of ginseng has never carried out the contents of the agreement listed in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
"The LG is now out of position. Not out, we are indeed nominated. Why are we nominated? Because the commitment that has been agreed in the MoU has not been implemented," said Bahlil, quoted on Saturday, May 24.
