Riots In East Java, 315 Anarchists Processed And Losses Rp256 Billion

JAKARTA - The East Java Regional Police processed 315 people who were involved in anarchic actions during the riots in 10 cities in the administrative area of East Java.

In fact, the police arrested 997 people who were involved in anarchic actions from August 29 to September 16, 2025.

"682 people have been sent home after collecting data and coaching, while 315 others are undergoing further legal proceedings," said East Java Police Chief Inspector General Nanang Avianto as quoted on Friday, September 19.

Hundreds of people were processed because from the results of their investigation they were involved in anarchic actions such as vandalism, looting, and burning public facilities.

While most of the people who were sent home were minors. Because, from the data of all the people who were secured, 415 of them were still in the child category.

"We are carefully sorting out, especially for minors. We return them to their respective parents to get better supervision," said Nanang.

The brutal action of the masses not only caused material losses, but also casualties. Based on data, the East Java Regional Police recorded 111 civilians were injured, most of them were outpatient.

Meanwhile, 105 Polri personnel and 12 TNI members were also injured during security, due to stone throws, Molotov cocktails, and other hard objects.

Nanang turuf detailed the total loss due to damage to public facilities reaching Rp256 billion. Of this amount, Rp42.2 billion is a loss to the National Police institution, while Rp214.1 billion is borne by the local government.
