Strong Vibration Shakes Nabire, 6.6 Magnitude Earthquake
JAKARTA - An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 rocked Nabire City, Central Papua, on Friday 19 September at around 1.19 WIB or 3.19 WIB WIT and it was confirmed that there was no potential for a tsunami.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) through the official website quoted by ANTARA on Friday morning stated that the earthquake that rocked Nabire City was located at the coordinates of 3.47 South Latitude, 135.49 East Longitude.
The location, according to the same data, is about 29 kilometers northwest of Nabire City, Central Papua, with a depth of 24 kilometers.
"There is no potential for a tsunami," wrote BMKG.
