Israel Bombardir Hezbollah Military Headquarters In South Lebanon

JAKARTA - Israel launched new airstrikes against Hezbollah's military targets in southern Lebanon to stop the militant group from rebuilding forces in the region.

Israel continues sporadically attacking Iran-backed Hezbollah across the border despite the US mediating a ceasefire in November between Lebanon and Israel after more than a year of conflict sparked by the war in Gaza.

Reported by Reuters on Thursday, September 18, the Israeli military confirmed an unnamed attack was underway after previously saying it would attack Hezbollah's military infrastructure.

The attack was carried out in response to the group's illegal efforts to rebuild its activities in the region.

The warning warned residents of three villages to evacuate.

The Lebanese state news agency, NNA, confirmed an attack on the area.

There has been no immediate reaction from Hezbollah, or information regarding damage or casualties.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said the evacuation warning was against international peace efforts.

"The Lebanese government is committed to stopping hostilities and engaging in meetings to ensure the implementation of the UN resolution that ended the round of conflict between Hezbollah and Israel in 2006," Salam said in a post on X.

Lebanon is under pressure from the US, Saudi Arabia, and domestic rivals Hezbollah to strip the group's weapons.

Hezbollah said it would be a grave mistake if it discussed the deployment of weapons while Israel continued to launch airstrikes against Lebanon and occupy most of the territory in its southern part.
