Build Replica Of Titanic For Amusement Park, Chinese Investors Invest 1 Billion Yuan
JAKARTA - China plans to build a replica of the famous Titanic, as part of the construction of a unique amusement park in Sichuan, after more than a century of the original Titanic sinking on April 15, 1912.
More than just a replica, along with the construction of a replica of Southhampton Harbour, the site of titanic's departure, will both be at the heart of the seriously prepared entertainment complex. The funds raised were also large.
The investment amounted to about one billion yuan or about 153.5 million U.S. dollars. Employed by more than a hundred workers and the use of more than 20 thousand tons of steel, the construction process is thought to last six years, longer than the construction of the original Titanic.
The details of the work are also carried out up to the smallest. Including the dining room and luxurious cabin, to the making of doorknobs styled like the original Titanic, visiting Koreatimes, Friday, May 14.
Chinese investor Su Shaojun said he was motivated to finance a 260-metre replica, to keep memories of the Titanic alive.
"I hope this ship will be here in 100 or 200 years. We are building a museum for titanic," su said.
Su, who was passionate about the project, sold his energy industry assets, including shares in several hydropower projects, to invest in Titanic.
Interestingly, someday tourists can feel the 'service' of five-star cruise ships, with a functioning engine that makes tourists feel completely at sea. Cost? It is enough to pay 2,000 yuan or about 150 U.S. dollars.
"Hopefully, about five million tourists will visit this tour every year. This volume of tourism should guarantee the return of our investment," hope Su.
To make this happen, attracting a large crowd to visit, Su plans to invite Director James Cameron, Leonardo DiCaprio, actor Jack and Kate Winslet, who plays Rose from Titanic, to his inauguration ceremony.
Meanwhile, project manager Xu Junnian said he felt it was important to preserve the ship's memory.
"The greatest meaning of building this ship was to carry on and inherit the great spirit of the Titanic," he said.
