Just 2 Months Living In Jakarta, Youth From Aceh Climbing Sutet Pursues Light

JAKARTA - A man with the initials BEK (22) is desperate to climb the Extra High Voltage Air Channel tower (Sutet) on Maduratna Street, RW 04, Rawa Badak Selatan, Koja District, North Jakarta on Thursday, September 18, 2025.

The perpetrators were desperate to climb the Sutet tower because they were suspected of having hallucinations chasing a light file above the sutet.

"According to the information we got, he didn't want to kill himself. It's just that he just chased after there was a bright color above the sutet. At first he seemed like someone was guiding him up. He saw something on the bright glow, so he went up," said Koja Police Chief, Kompol Andry when confirmed.

According to the information gathered, the perpetrator only lived in Jakarta for 2 months after coming from Aceh.

After climbing to the top of the Sutet tower, the perpetrator then went down independently after a number of residents gathered at the scene.

Slowly, the perpetrator came down from above the Sutet tower without any safety equipment. The perpetrator is suspected of having severe hallucinations.

"Yes, like the hallucinations, that's why we plan to take them to the hospital for a psychiatrist's examination," he said.

Meanwhile, the Koja Police Criminal Investigation Unit has not conducted a urine examination on the perpetrators.

"We haven't confirmed that yet because there has been no examination related to drugs. He admitted that he only saw the light in Sutet, this is the first time he has climbed Sutet," he said.

The perpetrator with the initials BEK did not have a job while living in the Koja area, North Jakarta. After successfully descending from the top of the tower, the perpetrator with the initials BEK was then secured by members of the Koja Police.
