Chicken Price Still Under Reference IDR 40,000 Per Kg

JAKARTA The price of broiler meat in the market in the last few days has increased. However, it is still below the Sales Reference Price (HAP) of IDR 40,000 per kilogram (kg).

The price of chicken meat itself is set by the government based on the Regulation of the National Food Agency Number 6 of 2024 concerning the Purchase Reference Price (HAP) at the Manufacturer Level and Sales Reference Price (HAP) at the Consumer Level of Corn Commodity, Chicken eggs Ras, and Chicken Ras.

Based on data from the Food Price Panel as of September 16, 2025, the national average price of broiler meat at the consumer level is IDR 38,050 per kilogram (kg), still below HAP of IDR 40,000 per kg.

"So the increase that occurs is still in the reference price corridor set by the government. We hope that this will provide fair space for farmers as well as remain affordable for the community," said Arief in an official statement, Wednesday, September 17.

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the price index received by poultry farmers tends to decline.

Since early 2025 it has been at the level of 120.58 and peaked in March 2025 with 122.53.

However, until August 2025 decreased to 119.95.

According to Arief, it is currently very important to maintain a balance between the interests of farmers upstream and price affordability for the downstream community.

"We certainly need to ensure that farmers get a fair price so that they can continue to produce, while at the same time keeping consumers from getting affordable prices. So this upstream and downstream balance must be maintained," said Arief.

Meanwhile, Deputy for Food Availability and Stability of NFA I Gusti Ketut Astawa said that the price of chickens at the farmer level in the last few months tends to be low in the range of Rp. 16,000 to Rp. 17,000 per kg.

In fact, said Ketut, HAP at the producer level set by the government in accordance with Entity 6 of 2024 is IDR 25,000 per kg.

"With this condition, the increase at the downstream level needs to be pushed according to the HAP, so that upstream farmers also get a reasonable price. In principle, the balance of upstream and downstream is important to continue to be optimized," said Ketut.
