Deadly Explosion In Kebumen, Apparently Victims Of Firecrackers While Smoking
JAKARTA - Police discover new facts during the development of an investigation into a firecracker explosion that killed four victims in Kebumen, Central Java.
Based on the examination of witnesses from survivors, it turns out that the victim mixed firecracker powder into a shell while smoking.
"The finished material (firecracker) was put in the casing (casing) of the paper linting while smoking," Kebumen Police Chief, AKBP Piter Yanottama told reporters, Friday, May 14.
This is known through evidence found at the scene. There are clothes victims, mercon shells with a height of 8-10 cm and diamter 8 cm that is still empty as many as 400 pieces, tools to put mercon material into the shell, and several other objects including cigarettes.
"There are also cigarette butts, there are still cigarettes in the pack but it is half used," he said.

Previously known, firecracker explosion occurred in Ngabean Village on Wednesday, May 12 at around 5:30 p.m. The explosion claimed the lives of four victims, namely Muhammad Taufik Hidayat, Rizky, Rio Dwi Pangestu, and Sugiyanto. Then there were three survivors who were injured, namely Bambang Priyono, Irwan and Ratna.
Investigators have found a criminal element in the case. The perpetrator violates Article 188 of the Criminal Code related to negligence in causing fire or explosion resulting in death. But police are still investigating the suspect's determination of the case.
