BI Says Household Consumption Is Still Weak To The Limited Fields

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo acknowledged that the Indonesian economy was still weak in the third quarter of 2025. According to him, Indonesia's economic growth needs to be increased so that it is in accordance with economic capacity.

He explained that a number of economic indicators in the third quarter of 2025 showed that household consumption was still not strong influenced by declining consumer expectations, especially in the lower middle class and limited employment availability.

"Investments also need to be strengthened through accelerating the realization of various government priority programs, including the development of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in various regions," Perry said, Wednesday, September 17.

Meanwhile, Perry said exports are expected to be better supported by the increase in exports of agricultural and manufacturing products, especially palm oil (CPO) to India in line with the decline in import duties.

Bank Indonesia, Perry said, will continue to strengthen synergies with fiscal stimulus policies and the government's real sector to encourage economic growth while maintaining economic stability.

"In terms of fiscal, it is predicted that Government spending will increase in the second semester of 2025 in line with the implementation of the Government's priority projects related to food, energy, defense and security security programs, as well as the Government's 2025 Economic Policy Package," he continued.

On the other hand, Perry also ensures that Bank Indonesia continues to strengthen the mix of monetary, macroprudential, and payment systems to encourage economic growth through lower interest rates, easing liquidity, increasing macroprudential incentives, and accelerating economic and financial digitization.

"With the strengthening of the policy synergy between Bank Indonesia and the Government, economic growth in the second semester of 2025 is predicted to improve so that overall in 2025 it will be above the midpoint of the range of 4.6'5.4 percent," said Perry.
