Iran Executes Israeli Spy Dead
JAKARTA - Iran executed a man accused of spying for Israel, according to state media reports on Wednesday. The man who was executed was identified as Babak Shahbazi.
In a decades-long shadow war with Israel, Iran executed many people it accused of having ties to Israel's Mossad intelligence services and facilitating its operations in the country.
The execution of Iranians convicted of spying for Israel has increased significantly this year, with at least nine death sentences being carried out in recent months.

Reported by Reuters on Wednesday, September 17, state media reported that Shahbazi had worked with Esmaeil Fekri, another convict who was executed in June for being a spy for Israel since early 2022.
Shahbazi is accused of using his position as a contractor who installs a cooling device to collect information from sensitive locations such as server rooms as well as military-related centers and security forces.
The defendant's lawyer appealed to the Supreme Court, but was rejected.
