Transportation Minister Budi Karya Orders PT KCI To Add Officers At Manggarai Station

JAKARTA - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi requested that officers at Manggarai Station, Jakarta be added. Because there is expected to be an increase in the number of KRL Commuter Line passengers on weekends.

The Minister predicts an increase of up to 300 thousand to 400 on Saturday, May 15-16. Meanwhile, today, 200 thousand passengers use this mode of transportation.

"In anticipation of that density, I ask PT KCI to strictly control health protocols and limit the maximum capacity of passengers. Officers need to be added and done professionally", Budi said at a press conference on Friday, May 14.

Budi Karya requested that health checks be intensified randomly or randomly using rapid antigen tests at several departure stations that could potentially experience a buildup of passengers. This is to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, to control the movement of transportation in the agglomeration area, the Minister of Transportation asked the Local Government in agglomeration areas such as Jabodetabek, Medan, Semarang, Surabaya, Bandung, and Makassar to map locations that may occur density to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19.

"The movement of transportation in agglomeration is allowed, but health protocols must be maintained and do not let uncontrollable crowds occur", he said.

Previously, Budi Karya also conducted a review at Kaliadem Port to Thousand Islands. The Minister predicts that there will be an increase in the number of passengers so that random checks are carried out more massively.

However, the implementation of ship capacity restrictions of 50 percent of the maximum capacity is still carried out to prevent the transmission of COVID-19. In fact, he called for that capacity to be reduced if the ship was too crowded.
