This AirPods Pro 3 Feature Is Only Available On IPhone 17 And Water
JAKARTA - AirPods Pro 3 will be sent to users this Friday, September 19. Although it should be a tremendous improvement for everyone, it seems that one of the new features will be exclusive to iPhone 17 and iPhone Air owners.
Have you ever lost your AirPods? Apple knows many people experience it, so they have increased the AirPods Pro 3 charging case to make it easier for searches.
Now it's easy to find the right place where you leave your AirPods Pro. The new generation of Ultra Wideband technology in Charging Casing increases the distance for Precision Finding to 1.5x. And with built-in speakers in the casing, you'll be able to find your AirPods no matter how deep between sofa pillows.

Apple's new Ultra Wideband technology is a U2 chip. This chip has been included on the iPhone since the iPhone 15 (although with the second generation chip Ultra Wideband) branding. The AirPods Pro 2 case only includes U1.
Users may expect U2 on AirPods Pro 3 to offer better Precision Findings than any iPhone, or at least from those with U2 chips like the iPhone 15. However, that's not what Apple sites say.
Footprint 12 on the AirPods Pro page offers an explanation for an increase in the Precision Finding distance of 1.5x:
Compared to AirPods Pro 2. Improved Prediction Finding works with AirPods Pro 3 paired with the iPhone Air or iPhone model for availability varies according to region.
It seems that an iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max, or iPhone Air is needed to open a new Precision Finding upgrade at the AirPods Pro 3.
Is there still an improvement with the older iPhone model, but maybe not that big? Maybe.
But everything Apple has shared publicly to date is that the new and upgraded Precision Finding will perform best when using a completely new iPhone 17 or Air. We have to wait and see what users find with the old iPhone after this Friday launch.
