China Masters 2025: Fajar/Fikri Overcome Deputy Hosts

JAKARTA The men's doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri managed to overcome the host representative Huang Di/Liu Yang to reach the second round of the 2025 China Masters.

Fajar/Fikri escaped after locking up the victory of two straight games 21-10 and 21-17 in just 33 minutes at Shenzhen Arena, China, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

"Today, thank God, we are grateful that we were able to win the match and can enjoy the game. The opponent is on the rise and the day is getting better," said Fajar after the match.

This victory continued Fajar/Fikri's positive trend after they played together. This is their third tour after being united by the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI).

Previously, they appeared in the Japan and China Open events in July 2025. In a row they reached the quarter-finals and then managed to bring home the title.

This success made PBSI decide to reunite them. If they promise then there is a possibility that they will be permanent.

Fajar said that public expectations for them would certainly be higher after they won the China Open 2025, which is the Super 1000 BWF tournament.

"We also hope for the same. Hopefully we can bear this responsibility. There will be burden and pressure, but I, Fikri, and the coach want to pass by mutual trust," he said.

Fajar/Fikri will wait for the winner from Liang Wei Pangkar/Wang Chang against William Kryger Boe/Christian Faust Kjaer, who will only play tomorrow, September 17, 2025.
