Instead Of Visiting Detainees In Cipinang, Women Wear Hijab Mobile Smuggling In Tisu

JAKARTA - A woman wearing a hijab who visited the Cipinang Class 1 Prison was arrested by officers while trying to smuggle a cellphone in a tissue packaging.

The incident began when the guard officers suspected that when the visitor with the initials DA was carrying a tissue in his hand when he was about to visit one of the inmates.

"My suspicions arose because the visitor continued to hold the tissue packaging in his hands, not put it in a wrapping bag that had been provided with other luggage," said the prison officer who arrested the DA perpetrator.

Officers who suspected the perpetrator's movements immediately checked in detail. As a result, officers found suspicious folding of tissue.

"In the folding of the tissue, there is a cellphone that is tucked in and neatly wrapped to make it look like ordinary tissue," he said.

The woman who was wearing the hijab was immediately secured and an examination was carried out in a special room.

Head of Cipinang Class I Prison, Wachid Wibowo, said that from the beginning of the year to August, various smuggling attempts were thwarted by his party.

"We must not be careless. Both drugs, cellphones, and other prohibited items, all have the potential to disrupt security stability. We will take firm action against any violations," he said when confirmed, Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

Meanwhile, the inmates visited by the DA were also arrested and further examination was carried out by Cipinang Class 1 prison officers.
