The Fate Of Ram 1500 Pure Electricity, Has Not Started To Be Canceled
JAKARTA - Based on the sales reports available until the first half of 2025, Ram 1500 continues to maintain its position as one of the three best-selling pickup trucks in the United States. Although Ford F-150 is often ranked first, the competition between F-150, Chevrolet Silverado, and Ram 1500 is very tight and often changes from time to time.
Now, it is reported that Ram's efforts to join the all-electric pickup competition by producing Ram 1500 REV appear to end even before it begins.
Autoweek reported Tuesday, September 16, the brand under Stellantis announced that it had stopped the development of the 1500 REV Ram in its pure battery-powered form. This full-sized electric pickup truck, which was first introduced in 2023 with spectacular Super Bowl ads, has been delayed many times and was last rescheduled for 2027. However, on the grounds of slowing down demand for full-sized electric trucks in North America, Ram officially ended the program.

Instead, Ram will shift his focus to the 1500 variant with a range-extended previously known as Ramcharger. This variant will now take over the 1500 REV name incorporating battery-powered electric drivetraints with gasoline engines that serve as a generator to power electric motors. In theory, this is a compromise solution that truck buyers may be more aware of the limitations of pure electric vehicles.
This decision closes a short but fluctuating chapter. Ram's stunning pure electric pickup concept at CES 2023 was followed by a less attractive version of production, bold features of the concept were removed and hit by delays. Stellantis' financial constraints also took part, and finally this brand canceled plans for a larger battery pack that should have provided a competitive advantage.
Now, all attention is focused on 1500 REVs that have changed names. Ram claims the truck will set new standards in the half-ton segment, offering incredible range, crane capability, and payload performance.
