SURABAYA-The results of the crime scene conducted by the East Java Regional Police's TRAFFic Acccident Analysis (TAA) team said that there were no traces of the P 7221 UGI tourism bus braking that had an accident on Jalan Raya Bromo, Probolinggo Regency, Sunday (14/9).

"There were no traces of braking at the location. The bus hit the cliff wall on the right side of the road with quite a hard impact. The death toll generally sat on the right side of the bus," said East Java Police Traffic Director Kombes Iwan Saktiadi as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 16.

Long collisions in the bus's body on the right side caused severe damage, broken glass, and the bus's body was deformed.

The results of the statements of a number of witnesses from the bus passengers who survived said that most of the victims who died were sitting in the fourth row chair to the back of the right side.

The bus accident on the Bromo line resulted in eight deaths, nine people were seriously injured, and 35 others were slightly injured.

Some of the minor injuries have been allowed to go home, while the seriously injured are still undergoing treatment at the Bina Sehat Hospital, Jember.

"Bus drivers named Al Bahri are currently still being treated for cracks in their left hand, while the bus kernet, Mergi, survived the incident," he said.

The TAA team of the East Java Police estimated that the speed of the bus before the accident was around 64 to 80 kilometers per hour with a distance of about 60 meters between the first hit point and the final position of the bus.

From the administrative side, the bus is declared complete, starting from the kir test, vehicle number certificates (STNK), route permits, to driver driving licenses (SIM). The results of the examination also ensure that the driver is healthy and is not affected by illegal drugs.

"The bus maintenance according to the ramp check is also declared roadworthy. However, to ensure technical conditions, we are still waiting for expert information from the Hino manufacturer as the bus manufacturer. We want to make sure whether the braking system is functioning normally or there is a disturbance," said Iwan.

Temporary results, bus transmission was found to be in the third gear position when the vehicle stopped after the accident. The investigation involved the National Transportation Safety Committee (NTSC) and the TAA Police Headquarters.

"We will construct the potential determination of the suspect after all the results of the crime scene and expert examinations are collected. Currently we have examined nine witnesses, consisting of passengers and residents around the scene," said Iwan.
