TNI Investigate Information On Australian Citizens Supplying KKB Weapons

JAKARTA - Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak confirmed that his party was tracing information about the smuggling of weapons by Australian citizens to be supplied to the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).

"We'll try later, whether it comes from the sea, air, land. Yes, we will continue to evaluate it," Maruli said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 16.

Maruli himself admitted that he was constrained in supervising the entry route of illegal weapons to Indonesia because Indonesia's sea and air were very wide.

However, he confirmed that he would try to find out the truth of the information on the supply of weapons.

To note, information circulated that two Australian citizens were arrested for being caught supplying weapons to the KKB.

The information was uploaded by one of the social media specifically for information in the defense sector, namely the Instagram account @isds.indonesia

The account uploaded a photo that read "Two Australian Men charged with Supplying Weapons to the KKB" on Monday (15/9).

In the caption of the photo, it was explained that the two men from Queensland and New South Wales had a conspiracy to supply weapons to the West Papua KKB, precisely to the group that had previously held a New Zealand pilot, Phillip Mehrtens.
