Insistent On Ending The Russia-Ukraine War, Trump Reportedly Meets Zelensky Next Week

JAKARTA - President of the United States (US) Donald Trump is rumored to be meeting with his partner Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky next week.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Trump was still hoping to broker a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia at the meeting.

As is known, Trump has repeatedly threatened to impose sanctions on Russia if Russian President Vladimir Putin does not compromise in the war on Ukraine.

However, so far Trump has not followed up on his threats, even as Russia stepped up attacks that frustrated Ukraine.

Trump has made "several phone calls with Putin, several meetings with Zelensky, including another possible week in New York," where leaders will gather for the UN General Assembly, Rubio told reporters in Israel, Tuesday, September 16, quoted by AFP.

"He will continue to try. If peace is possible, he wants to achieve it," Rubio continued.
