Nias Earthquake Magnitude 7.2, No Tsunami Potential

JAKARTA - An earthquake of magnitude 7.2 occurred in West Nias, North Sumatra. The earthquake is certainly not a potential tsunami.

The Bureau of Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) said the earthquake occurred at 1:33 p.m. The location is 0.10 LU,96.53 BT.

The earthquake occurred 141 km southwest of West Nias, North Sumatra. The depth of the earthquake was 19 kilometers.

There have been no reports of any impacts from the earthquake. BMKG confirms Nias earthquake is not a potential tsunami
