Komdgi Kaji Discourse One Phone Number For One Social Media Account

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria, said that his party was reviewing the proposal for one person to only have one social media account.

The study in question is a discourse related to a telephone number or Population Identification Number (NIK) which can only be used to create one social media account. Nezar emphasized that this step is in line with the One Data program.

"That is one solution and we are currently reviewing the various options, which essentially reduces the scamming efforts in the online world and facilitates supervision of hoax misinformation and others," Nezar said in a statement.

Nezar also added that discussions were still ongoing, including the possibility that one person had more than one phone number, so they could create more social media accounts.

So they can make two or three accounts. This is what we want to study further, how many numbers can be used if we have an account. That's being studied again," he said.

According to him, the discourse of one person on a social media account is expected to be a solution to prevent fraud in the digital realm and prevent all forms of misinformation and hoaxes.

This proposal was first submitted by a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, the PKB Faction, By Soleh, in August 2025. In a Public Hearing Meeting with Google, YouTube, Meta, and TikTok, By proposing to ban the use of more than one account (dual account) on social media.

"My recommendations, Leaders, and please note the Secretariat, in the Draft (UU) are included that digital platforms cannot create dual accounts, I ask for this. Only one original account cannot have a dual account," said the meeting.
