Janice Tjen Disappointed To Become Runner-up At WTA 250 Sao Paulo 2025

JAKARTA Indonesian tennis star, Janice Tjen, is disappointed to lose the WTA 250 Sao Paulo 2025 final match against Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah.

Janice's sweet journey in this tournament ended in a 3-6 and 4-6 defeat against the French representative at Parque Villa-Lobos, Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Sunday local time or Monday, September 15, 2025.

Janice admitted that she was disappointed after her usual extraordinary appearance in her WTA tour debut failed to produce the title.

"However, there are many positive things that I can take from this experience. I want to learn from what happened and want to go further," said Janice as quoted by Diario Do Tenis.

Janice actually came to the 2025 WTA Sao Paulo not as a seed. However, she managed to make it to the final without losing a single set and stopping a number of seeds.

The names of the seeded by Janice were Leolian Jeanjean (the seventh seed) in the first half, Alexandra Eala (third seed) in the quarter-finals, and capai Jones (the sixth seed) in the semifinals.

Janice said that she was not at all surprised by Tiantsoa's appearance, who on his way to the final managed to beat several tough opponents and could make an epic comeback.

"Today he played very well, while I was unable to get out of the pressure he put in. I will try to learn from this situation," said Janice.

Sao Paulo Open 2025 is an important tournament in Janice's career. The journey to the final managed to boost his ranking to 103th place from 130 in the world.

The rating will really help Janice to be able to play in a larger WTA tour or Grand Slam without having to go through the qualifying round first.

"This tournament is more meaningful than any other tournament I have participated in. The points I got here clearly helped me get close to the world's top 100 ranking," said the 23-year-old.
