Deputy Minister Of State Secretary: The KPU Palace Cannot Intervene Regarding Presidential Candidate Documents Included In The Certificate
Deputy Minister of State Secretary (Wamensesneg) Juri Ardiantoro said the Palace or executive institution could not intervene in the General Elections Commission (KPU) policy which decided to keep the presidential candidate (candidate) requirements a secret, including diplomas.
He explained that the KPU is an independent institution that works without the influence of other institutions.
"He cannot be influenced by other institutions, by the executive. He is an independent institution, we respect," said Juri as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, September 15.
According to him, the KPU has also explained regarding the policy which can be a guideline for the public. He assessed that public questions related to the decision also needed to be asked directly to the KPU.
Previously, the General Elections Commission (KPU) determined as many as 16 registration requirements for presidential and vice presidential candidates as information that was excluded or could not be disclosed to the public without the approval of the relevant parties.
This is stated in the Decree of the Indonesian KPU Number 731 of 2025 concerning the Determination of the Requirement Documents for Candidates for President and Vice President as Public Information Excepted by the KPU.
"The KPU decision of 731/2025 has determined that some information on the requirements documents for the presidential and vice president candidates (second Diktum) has been excluded within a period of 5 years, unless the secret party is disclosed giving written and/or disclosure agreements related to a person's position in public positions (third dictum)," said KPU chairman Afifuddin.
