JAKARTA - The Ministry of Religion's (Kemenag) Islamic Boarding School Directorate together with the Ministry of Health's Health Promotion Directorate (Kemenkes) strengthen health services in Islamic boarding schools (ponpes) through the Healthy Islamic Boarding School program.

"We hope that this collaboration can be further strengthened, especially in the alignment of the Healthy Islamic Boarding School program with the initiative of the Child Friendly Islamic Boarding School," said Director of Islamic Boarding School Basnang Said in Jakarta, Monday, as quoted by Antara.

He said three aspects were emphasized in the Healthy Islamic Boarding School program, namely strengthening routine physical activities, educating healthy behavior, and fostering health cadres.

In addition, the Ministry of Religion and the Ministry of Health highlighted health services at Islamic boarding schools with four key indicators, namely Islamic boarding schools that provide free health checks, Islamic boarding schools that have health rooms.

In addition, pesantren that carries out the provision of blood-added tablets (TTD) and pesantren are ready to carry out first aid for diseases (P3P), first aid for accidents (P3K), and first aid for psychological wounds (P3LP).

The development of the Healthy Islamic Boarding School is also focused on environmental aspects, such as the availability of proper and clean toilets, washing hands with soap, dormitories with adequate ventilation and lighting, no-smoking areas, waste management with closed trash bins, to eradicating mosquito nests regularly.

"Pengaderan santri yang bisa diterjuntarkan dalam Pesantren Sehat ini juga penting agar upaya kesadaran santri terhadap kesehatan meluas ke santri-santri lainnya," kata Basnang.

The Director of Health Promotion at the Ministry of Health, Elvieda Sariwati, emphasized the importance of cross-sectoral collaboration in strengthening the coaching base.

"This effort cannot run alone. Synergy is needed, especially in the exchange of data between the Boarding School Directorate and the Ministry of Health to strengthen coaching bases such as santri husada and the pesantren caretaker team managing healthy pesantren," he said.

Through this synergy, he hopes that a healthier, child-friendly Islamic boarding school environment will be realized, and will support the optimal growth and development of students.
