KLH: The Majority Of Industrial Estates Can Predicate The Red PROPER

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Environment (KLH) said that the majority of industrial estates undergoing evaluation of the Company Performance Assessment Program (PROPER) still get the title of Red or have not complied with environmental management regulations.

Deputy for Control of Pollution and Environmental Damage (PPKL) KLH/Environmental Control Agency (BPLH) Ratio Ridho Sani explained, of the 150 industrial areas participating in the 2024-2025 PROPER, the majority fall into the Red category.

"There are several steps that we take against industrial estates and other industries, other companies, if they do not comply, we will give the Red rank, if we do not comply, we will also impose sanctions, this is law enforcement," explained Rasio in a media briefing in Jakarta, Antara, Monday, September 15.

He stated that the assessment and evaluation carried out by the Deputy for PPKL would then also be submitted to the Deputy for Law Enforcement (Gakkum) for further steps. There are potential law enforcement measures ranging from fines and administrative sanctions to legal steps for resolving disputes and civil lawsuits.

The Red Rating itself means the company has poor environmental performance. Evaluation found the company did not comply with several regulations that had an impact on the surrounding environment, despite some efforts.

The lowest rank in the PROPER is black which is an assessment given to companies that fail to comply with environmental rules and cause environmental pollution.

In PROPER, Gold is the highest ranking that can be given to the company. Followed by Green and then Blue.

KLH has evaluated 5,476 companies for the 2024-2025 PROPER with industrial types including palm oil, hotels, textiles, chemicals, automotives, mining oil and gas and various other types of businesses. The assessment was carried out involving local governments and universities.

The evaluation process itself has been completed for all these companies, which are currently included in the refutation process proposed by the company to KLH/BPLH. The rebuttal process itself is carried out until September 27, 2025.

"This is the result of our evaluation. We certainly serve as a form of transparency, our accountability also opens space to companies conveying a kind of rebuttal," he said.
