Reflecting On Student Brawl In Jayawijaya, Disdik Asks Teachers To Take Emotional Approach
JAKARTA - The Jayawijaya Regency Education Office (Disdik), Papua Mountains Province asked high school/vocational students in the local area to stop the brawl.
Acting Head of Jayawijaya District Education Office, Embarrassed Asso, said that his party had given instructions to each school principal to ensure students were not involved in brawls or attacks on SMA Negeri 1 Wamena.
"We hope that school principals and teachers from schools who carry out attacks will again make sure they don't take similar actions again. Teachers have the responsibility to take an emotional approach to their students so that this incident should not happen again," he said, confiscated by Antara.
Since Saturday (13 September) a brawl has been carried out by students from several SMA/SMK to SMA Negeri 1 Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency caused damage to the school, with the possibility of continuing today and Tuesday, September 16.
He explained that the results of the meeting of all high school and vocational school heads in Jayawijaya Regency obtained information on the background of the action because of hoaxes on social media.
"We see certain people being used to create noise in Wamena City. They want this area to be unsafe, and want to create riots like in 2019," he said.
After being traced, he said, the action was not carried out by school children, but had been ridden by outsiders who were not students.
"It turned out that those who took part in the attack were not high school/vocational school children, they were outside of students. We also don't know where the children who carried out this attack came from," he said.

He hopes that all principals and SMA/SMK teachers in Jayawijaya Regency will ensure that students are not involved in the action.
"The student's job is to study and demand knowledge, so that they can achieve a better future and avoid things that are negative in nature," he said.
