Pelican Crossing Trial At Cikini Station, KAI Proposes Officers During Busy Hours

JAKARTA The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta conducted a trial of the rail crossing facility crossing at Cikini Station, Central Jakarta.

With this practice crossing, people can cross without jumping over the fence.

The ticket crossing was presented with the opening of a guardrail on the side sidewalk of the station.

This step is part of the arrangement of the area which is expected to regulate the flow of vehicle traffic and pedestrian movement in a more orderly and safe manner in the Cikini Station area.

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operation Area 1 Jakarta (Daop 1 Jakarta) respects and supports every step of the government and related authorities in an effort to improve safety, comfort, and accessibility for the community around the Cikini Station area.

The opening of the guardrail and the installation of a pedestrian cross facility are part of the arrangement of the area which is expected to regulate the flow of vehicle traffic and pedestrian movement in a more orderly and safe manner.

Public Relations Manager Daop 1 Ixfan Hendriwintoko said KAI Daop 1 Jakarta considered that there was a need for an evaluation of the potential impacts that might arise, including traffic congestion and safety aspects for all interested parties.

"In principle, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta is ready to coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure that the existence of the new facility really supports the safety, regularity and comfort of the community, both for train service users and local residents," he said in an official statement, Monday, September 15.

As input, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta proposes that the relevant agencies can place traffic control officers, especially during busy hours.

"The presence of officers in the field is considered important to anticipate various possibilities that can occur, such as congestion, the presence of street vendors, and motorcycle taxis that stop inappropriately," he said.
