Regarding The Latest Honda Prelude, Is It Integra Incarnation?

JAKARTA After a long wait, Honda Prelude finally returned and was released last Sunday. However, in the midst of euphoria, fierce debate emerged from fans. Many have complained that this car feels less authentic as a Prelude. The reason is, this model is considered more similar to Honda Civic than Accord like Prelude in the past.

But wait a minute, what if the view is wrong? What if Honda doesn't actually create a new Prelude, but revives the two-door Integra? An in-depth analysis shows that this argument is very strong.

Referring to the CarBuzz report, Monday, September 15, basically, the Prelude platform does share architecture with Civic and Accord. However, if you look closely, the resemblance of Prelude to Civic is very obvious, especially in pillar A and interior design. In fact, this car uses the front suspension of Civic Type R, further confirming its kinship relationship.

Interestingly, the latest prelude body style is Honda Integra-like liftback coupe. From the start, Integra has always been distinguished from Civic through its unique two-door hatchback body style. This tradition continues until its last model, RSX, which also has a liftback couple style.

In other words, this new prelude body style is the perfect continuation of the two-door Integra line, and will be the ideal companion to modern Integra which is now present as a four-door hatchback.

Classy Interior Ala Acura

At first glance, the Prelude interior does look like a Civic, but if you look at the details, the Prelude cabin feels more luxurious and premium, just like Acura. The air conditioner ventilation is separated in the center and side, unlike the long lattices that connect to Civic. Plus, the Prelude is equipped with a shirt with a better carving and a luxurious leather coating, an improvement that has always been the hallmark of Integra.

Although Honda has yet to announce the official Prelude price for the global market, prices in Japan provide strong clues. Based on conversions or comparisons with other models, the price of Prelude is estimated to reach more than 40,000 US dollars (approximately Rp656 million), well above the usual Civic. This significant price increase comes from a unique style, premium interior components, and the use of expensive suspensions from Civic Type R.
