Suspicious Of Parking Car On The Shoulder Of The Road, Banjar Police Successfully Confiscated Drugs Worth IDR 34.2 Billion

The Banjar Police ranks of the South Kalimantan (Kalsel) Regional Police managed to thwart the circulation of 19 kilograms of methamphetamine after arresting a courier driving a car in the Peat District, Banjar Regency.

Banjar Police Chief AKBP Fadli said the disclosure began with the suspicion of Traffic Unit officers when they found a car parked on the shoulder of Jalan Governor Syarkawi, Gambit District on Thursday, September 11 at around 16.45 WITA.

"When the inspection was carried out, the car driver tried to escape. However, thanks to the alertness of traffic members, the perpetrator was successfully secured," he said at a press conference at the Banjar Police SAR Hall, Antara, Monday, September 15.

From the results of the search, the police found two bags containing 19 large packages of methamphetamine with a total weight of 19 kilograms.

The evidence was secured with the suspect with the initials S who acted as a courier.

According to Fadli, the value of narcotics is estimated at IDR 34.2 billion or equivalent to the potential consumption of around 152 thousand people.

For his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) subsidiary Article 112 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, with the threat of imprisonment of at least six years and a maximum of 20 years and a fine of IDR 1 billion to IDR 10 billion plus a third.

"This success is proof of the alertness of Banjar Police traffic personnel in maintaining security and eradicating drug trafficking in the jurisdiction of Banjar Regency," said Fadli.
