Foreign Minister Sugiono Attends OKI State Emergency Meeting And Arab League In Qatar

JAKARTA - Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono arrived in Doha, Qatar, to attend an emergency meeting of Arab League member countries and Organizations for Islamic Cooperation (OKI) which is planned to be held on Monday.

The arrival of Foreign Minister Sugiono on behalf of President Prabowo Subianto, affirmed Indonesia's support for peace in the Middle East and Palestinian independence.

"Indonesia expresses its solidarity with Qatar and reaffirms its commitment to peace in the Middle East, including its steadfast support for Palestinian independence," wrote the account X of the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, as quoted Monday, September 14.

Arrived in Doha (14/9) to attend the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit on behalf of President @prabowo.

Earlier, the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the Israeli attack targeting the leader of the Palestinian militant group Hamas in Doha, Qatar, as a gross violation of international law.

"Israel's attack on Doha, Qatar on September 9, 2025 was a gross violation of international law, including the UN Charter, a violation of Qatar's sovereignty, and a major threat to regional security and peace," the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote in a post on X as quoted September 10.

The Indonesian government considers the attack to be at risk of discriminating and expanding conflicts in the region.

"Indonesia is repeating its call to UN DK to fulfill its mandate by taking immediate steps and expressly stopping Israel's actions, ensuring accountability," wrote the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"Indonesia reaffirms its solidarity with the Government and people of Qatar and emphasizes its commitment to support all diplomatic efforts to achieve a fair, comprehensive, and sustainable peace settlement in the Middle East under the Two-National Solution," the upload added.

An emergency meeting between the Arab League and the OIC was held following an Israeli attack on Doha, Qatar last week, targeting senior Hamas officials.

A meeting to prepare for a foreign-level meeting was held on Sunday. In his opening speech, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani said there was "no tolerance" in the face of Israel's "barbaric" attack, which created a dangerous precedent and was an illustration that Israel "has no red line".

"It's time now to stop double standards and punish Israel for all the crimes it has committed and so Israel knows that ethnic cleansing carried out against Palestine will not work," he stressed as quoted by The National.

"Israel is only "insisted" by the failure of the international community to act," he added.

Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit said, "quietly against a crime is a crime".

"What we need to try today is to hold those responsible for war crimes, from killing civilians to hunger that plagues the population and destruction of the entire community in Gaza," he said.
