DKI Provincial Government And KAI Trial Pelican Crossing At Cikini Station
JAKARTA - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta in collaboration with PT KAI conducted a pedestrian crossing trial controlled by traffic lights or known as a complicated crossing (pelican crossing) on the east side of Cikini Station, on Monday 15 September.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Secretariat Development and Environment Bureau, Iwan Kurniawan, said this was done to facilitate the mobility of commuter line users when crossing and entering the station area more safely.
He conveyed that the trial of implementing "pelican crossing" and the opening of the fence at the entrance to the station adjusted the commuter line operating hours, which was 05.00-24.00 WIB.
"In addition to preparing a ticket crossing with safety traffic lights, we will also deploy Transportation Service officers and Satpol PP to ensure people's mobility can run safely and smoothly," said Iwan.
The pedestrian guardrail at Cikini Station opened on Sunday (14/9).
He also appealed to users of vehicles crossing the east side of Cikini Station to obey traffic signs and prioritize safety.
Iwan also invited the public to use this "pelican crossing" facility in an orderly manner.
"Let's maintain order and comfort at Cikini Station by paying attention to personal safety. Please be careful when crossing the Pelican crossing that has been provided," he said.
As for recently, a viral video on social media of train passengers jumped over the guardrail of Cikini Station. This is because the station exit is quite far from the public transportation stop.
