Cultural Preservation Center Present At The Heart Of South Kalimantan

BANJARBARU Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Fadli Zon confirmed that South Kalimantan will soon have a Cultural Preservation Center. The Office of the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the Ministry of Culture will occupy the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Cooperation Office building in Banjarbaru.

"We hope that the presence of the Cultural Preservation Center will advance South Kalimantan culture which is rich in history, civilization, and the findings of ethnic groups," said Fadli while reviewing the location, Sunday, September 14. He emphasized that this UPT is expected to be the center of the birth of cultural cycles' which have a strong roots in tradition, but is open to contemporary developments and digital culture.

Accompanied by BRIN Intermediate Expert Researcher, Nugroho Nur Susanto, Menbud Fadli reviewed the findings of cultural heritages from all over Kalimantan, ranging from the framework of ancient animals, ceramics, to historical artifacts. "In the future, these archaeological findings can be developed by the Ministry of Culture through the Cultural Preservation Center of South Kalimantan," said Nugroho.

Head of the XIII Region Cultural Preservation Center, Riris Purbasari, said the presence of a new office was very urgent. Our work coverage in South Kalimantan is very wide. The presence of this office is important for cultural preservation," he said.

Menbud Fadli emphasized that the Cultural Preservation Center will be a space for cultural actors and the younger generation as an accelerator for cultural promotion. "Here I hope that activists and cultural fighters will be born in collaboration with local governments, studios, and the cultural community," he concluded.
