Marc Marquez Wins GP San Marino, Can Win MotoGP 2025 If He Wins In Japan

JAKARTA - Ducati Lenovo racer Marc Marquez won the San Marino Grand Prix with a time of 41 minutes 20.89 seconds at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, San Marino, Sunday WIB.

Starting the race in fourth place, Marquez was able to steal the momentum to get past his younger brother Alex Marquez (Ducati) in second place, and Fabio Quantararao (Ducati) in third.

The Spaniard continued to follow Marco Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia) who led the race since starting in first place.

After leading 11 laps, Bezzecchi lost control as it went wide at a corner which Marquez immediately took advantage of to take over first place.

After overtaking, Marquez continued to keep his distance for 15 laps remaining until he finished first, followed by Bezzecchi in second place with a distance of 0.568 seconds and Alex Marquez in third place with a gap of 7.734 seconds.

With that victory, Marquez was solid at the top of the standings by collecting 512 points. His closest competitor Alex Marquez posted 330 points after adding 16 points to the San Marino GP.

The racer nicknamed "The Baby Alien" could lock up the world title at the Japanese GP on September 26-28 as it only needed an additional three points to ensure it was not overtaken by closest competitors.

If already champions in Japan, the race will continue in Mandalika, Indonesia on October 3-5 with Marquez's status as the champion. After the race in Indonesia, there are still four series to be held in Australia, Malaysia, Portugal and Spain.
