Prabowo Is Advised To Directly Lead Police Reform
Member of Commission III DPR RI Nasir Djamil advised President Prabowo Subianto to directly lead the reform process following the plan to form a special commission to evaluate the National Police institution.
"My advice is that President Prabowo directly leads the reform of the police. Because direct involvement of the resident will make reform more effective and the results can be felt by the community in real terms," he said, Sunday, September 14, 2025.
According to him, the reform of the National Police has actually been carried out since the era of General Sutanto to Listyo Sigit Prabowo. Unfortunately, until now there is still behavior of the apparatus that has not been in accordance with the expectations of the public. He added, in the context of forming the National Police reform commission, the Indonesian House of Representatives will not be directly involved, but only act as a supervisory agency.
"This supervision is of course to remind that the National Police has a five-year strategic plan that is outlined in the annual work plan. Therefore, the president and the reform commission can help the Police by evaluating and facilitating so that the strategic plan can be achieved and felt by the Indonesian people," he said.

The same thing was also stated by another member of Commission III of the DPR RI, Rudianto Lallo, who assessed that President Prabowo certainly already had his own records regarding improvements that could be made within the National Police. "As head of state, yes, of course the president understands the most, understands the most what is needed, what is the correction, or what the Police want to reform," he added.
He is optimistic that the steps taken by President Prabowo will be able to bring the National Police as a state tool that is increasingly trusted by the people. "Of course the president will know how to then bring, not only the real Police, but all of our country's instruments, our country's tools, and then improve performance for its main purpose is for the benefit of the people," said Rudianto.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto stated that he would immediately form a commission to evaluate and reform the National Police. This step is a response to the demands of the community, including the National Conscience Movement (GNB) which consists of a number of interfaith national figures on Thursday, September 11.
