MotoGP San Marino 2025: Marco Bezzecki Wins Sprint, Marc Marquez Falls
JAKARTA Marco Bezzecki won a dramatic victory in the San Marino 2025 MotoGP Sprint Race, Saturday, September 13, after Marc Marquez, who had led, fell in the middle of the race. This victory became the first for Bezzecchi with Aprilia as well as marking the end of Marc Marquez's sprint dominance, which previously recorded eight consecutive wins.
From the start, the race was fierce. Alex Marquez made a perfect start from the front row, but Bezzecki, who started from pole position, immediately took over the lead at the first corner. Marc Marquez, who started from the front row, was also aggressive, overtook Fabio Quartararo and then his own younger brother, Alex, to stick to Bezzecchi.
The fight in front got hotter on the fifth lap when Bezzecki went wide around the corner 14. Marc Marquez took the opportunity to catch up at the 6th corner on the next lap. However, just a few corners later, the six-time world champion lost control at corner 15. His Desmosedici GP25 ducati fell, leaving a chance of victory just disappear.

The incident became Marc Marquez's first major crash since the Spanish GP last April, as well as breaking his winning record in this season's sprint race.
Bezzecki took the lead again after the incident and was able to maintain the rhythm of the race. Alex Marquez continued to put pressure until the distance had dropped to six tenths of a second at the end of the race. However, Bezzecki again widened the gap to secure victory with a time of 19 minutes 52.966 seconds.
This is Bezzecchi's second sprint win in his career, as well as Aprilia's first win in sprint format since Aleix Espargaro in Catalunya, May 2024.
The Podium is equipped with Fabio Di Giannantonio (VR46 Ducati) who finished third, continuing his consistency with the second consecutive sprint podium. His teammate, Franco Morbidelli, finished fourth, followed by Pedrodeca (KTM) in fifth position after previously falling in qualifying.
Meanwhile, bad results haunt Francesco Bagnaia again. The two-time world champion fell to 13th after a bad start and failed to bounce back throughout the race. Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) also had a bad fate after falling while competing in fourth place.
With this result, Marco Bezzecchi asserted himself as a new threat in top competition, as well as giving a signal of Aprilia's revival in the second half of the season.
