Donnarumma Ready To Test His Ability In The Premier League

Gianluigi Donnarumma said he wanted to test his skills in the Premier League which he said was the best league in the world, after leaving Paris Saint-Germain to join Manchester City on the last day of the transfer market.

Donnarumma spent his first day at Manchester City on Thursday, September 12, 2025, after carrying out international duties with Italy shortly after finalizing a deal believed to be worth 30 million euros and signing a five-year contract.

Last season, the 26-year-old won his fourth Champions League and Ligue 1 title with PSG.

Naun, coach Luis Enrique confirmed during the summer that Donnarumma was no longer the main choice at the Parc des Princes. This situation made Manchester City immediately recruit the goalkeeper who won Euro 2020.

"This is a new chapter in my life and career. Playing in the Premier League with Manchester City is a tremendous emotion for me. I am ready for this challenge."

"I always dreamed of playing in the Premier League because of the best league in the world. For a player, I think achieving in the Premier League is the maximum achievement in his career. Because of that, I am very happy to be here."

"I'm willing to play for this club, who has worked hard to sign me. I hope I can repay that trust again," said Donnarumma.

Donnarumma has the opportunity to make his debut in the Manchester Derby on Sunday, September 14, 2025, when Manchester United travel to the Etihad Stadium.

He has spent time on Thursday, September 12, 2025, adapting to his new team-mates and browsing club facilities.

"This is a club that always fascinated me. I always follow (Manchester City) with pleasure."

"I saw everything around me like a training center and a stadium, everything was fantastic."

"You won't know the club's values until you actually see them with your own eyes. Buildings and staff here are fantastic. So, I'm proud to be here and happy with the choices I've made."

"I hope I will make history here and win as many trophies as possible, that's my goal," Donnarumma said of Manchester City.

Manchester City are looking to return to title competition this season after a bad season last season, when a streak of four consecutive league titles ended in third place and the Champions League ticket race lasted until the end of the season.

Pep Guardiola and the new Manchester City Sports Director, Hugo Viana, have continued the squad's reshuffle.

However, Donnarumma could be the most significant new player - given that her profile is very different from Ederson's about to leave - whose distribution is key to Manchester City's game.

"I've won a lot of things in my career. So, I'll always be grateful to (the previous clubs) for everything they've given me."

"However, I fully focus on my new challenges here, to make history and become a symbol for the city and the club."

"Most importantly, I want to make the fans proud and win a lot of trophies together because this is a historic club and deserves the highest possible achievement," said Donnarumma.
