PSG Condemns French Federation For Dembele And Doue Injuries, Wants New Protocol

JAKARTA - Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) criticized the French Football Federation (FFF) for the serious injuries experienced by star players Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue. They demanded that a new protocol be made between the club and the national team.

Dembele and Doue will be out for six and four weeks each after suffering a muscle injury in the France National Team (Timnas) match against Ukraine.

In fact, the injury can be avoided. No wonder, PSG was very angry with coach Didier Deschamps.

In a firm statement on the weekend, PSG criticized the French national team for causing significant sporting consequences for the club and players after the injury. They urged quick and immediate corrective action.

The Ligue 1 champions said they had provided FFF with concrete medical information regarding workloads that could be borne by its players and the risk of injury as well.

Les Parisiens also regretted the fact that this medical recommendation was not considered by the French national team medical staff and the lack of consultation with the club's medical team.

The statement added that PSG strongly urged the new medical coordination protocol between clubs and the national team to make the health of the players and their medical support a top priority.

"Pary Saint-Germain, which monitors the medical needs of its players throughout the year and has access to precise and detailed information, has provided FFF with concrete medical information."

"In fact, we provide information before the start of the French national team training session, regarding the workload the players can bear and the risk of injury."

"Paris Saint-Germain, who wish to reaffirm its commitment to the FFF and France's national team missions, hopes that this regrettable event will pave the way for the formation of a new formal framework for medical coordination, which guarantees systematic, documented, and reciprocal exchanges between the club's medical staff and the national team, as well as a tribute to the principle of prudence strengthened in the summons and use of players, especially when they show pathology being treated."

"Serious and avoidable incidents should recently result in quick and immediate corrective action."

"The club is ready to actively contribute to this collective effort, in the interests of players and professional football as a whole," PSG said in a statement.

Dembele was added at halftime against Ukraine on Saturday, September 6, 2025 WIB, before being withdrawn in the 81st minute due to a right hamstring injury.

PSG confirmed that the candidate who won the Ballon d'Or suffered a serious hamstring injury.

Doue was also injured and pulled out during the break-out against Ukraine. He has a right calf muscle injury and will be out for about four weeks.

The two players will miss the Champions League match against Barcelona on October 1, 2025, as well as several other important matches at the continental and domestic levels.

However, Didier Deschamps insisted that Dembele was fit and could be played.

"I'm sure he's capable of playing in high-level matches. Otherwise, I won't play him."

"This time, another thigh injury (compared against Toulouse). He is fit. It's a shame for him, but it could happen to other players," Deschamps said of Dembele.
