Mercenaries To Anti-Muslim Gangsters Distribution Of Gaza Aid

JAKARTA - The head of the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees said on Thursday that the distribution of Gaza aid had fallen to mercenaries, including what he called a "anti-Muslim cluster."

"At least 2,000 people who were desperate and starving have died while seeking food assistance. Most of them died near the site called 'the Gaza humanitarian principle,'" UNRWA Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini wrote on social media X, as quoted by the Daily Sabah September 12.

"This deadly mechanism is operated by mercenaries, including anti-Muslim gangsters, according to the BBC," he added.

Lazzarini stressed, overcoming hunger in Gaza "containing access, on a large scale, and safe to people in need wherever they are."

"PBB, including UNRWA and partners, has resources and expertise. Let's do our job," he added.

Since May 27, Israel has operated an alternative aid distribution channel through the so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which is supported by the United States but rejected by the United Nations and Palestine, which calls it a "death trap."

Israel has also closed all crossings to Gaza since March 2, blocking food, medicines, and humanitarian supplies, which pushed the enclave into starvation even though aid trucks piled up on its borders.

Separately, medical sources in Gaza on Friday confirmed Palestinian deaths since October 2023 in the region had reached 64,756 people, while injuries reached 164,059, of which the majority of victims were children and women, quoted from WAFA.

That figure includes 413 people who died from hunger and malnutrition, with 143 of them children.
