Hotman Claims Nadiem Case Like Tom Lembong, AGO: We'll See

The Attorney General's Office (AGO) responded to Hotman Paris Hutapea's claim that the suspect in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of Chromebooks, Nadiem Makarim, had the same fate as Tom Lembong, who was prosecuted even though he did not receive the flow of funds.

"Go ahead. That's an opinion rather than a legal advisor and his client," said Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) at the Attorney General's Office, Anang Supriatna, at the Jakarta Attorney General's Office Building, Friday, during an agreement.

However, Anang emphasized that the elements of criminal acts in corruption cases are not only limited in terms of enriching oneself, but also enriching others.

He also emphasized that investigators at the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) continue to explore this case.

"Investigators continue to explore how to reveal legal facts that will develop later. Will there be other parties? We'll see," he said.

Previously, Nadiem Makarim's attorney, Hotman Paris Hutapea, said that his client had the same fate as Tom Lembong, who was charged with a corruption case of sugar importation even though he did not receive the flow of funds.

"Persis is the same as the Tom Lembong case. In terms of elements enriching oneself has not been proven. Corruption, right, must enrich or enrich others," he said.

According to Hotman, if Nadiem is accused of enriching himself in the procurement of Chromebooks, then there will be a mark-up or inflated laptop price in this procurement.

However, in the audit report of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) it was stated that there were no significant things that could affect the accuracy of laptop prices.

It is known that the AGO named five suspects in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of Chromebook laptops at the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2019-2022.

They are JT (Jurist Tan) as the Special Staff of the Minister of Education and Culture for 2020-2024 and BAM (Ibrahim Arief) as a former technology consultant at the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Then, SW (Sri Wahyuningsih) as the Director of Elementary School Directorate of Basic Education and Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture for 2020-2021 as well as the power of budget users within the Directorate of Elementary Schools in the 2020-2021 fiscal year.

Next, MUL (Mulyatsyah) as Director of SMP of the Directorate of Basic Education and Secondary Education PAUD of the Ministry of Education and Culture for 2020-2021 as well as the power of budget user in the first Middle School Directorate for the 2020-2021 fiscal year.

Finally, Nadiem Makarim as the former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristek).
