Had Anger, Polish PM Now Calls 'attack' Drone Not Russia's Fault

JAKARTA - Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the "attack" of his country's airspace drone was not Russia's fault, although US President Donald Trump stated the incident could have been accidental.

Tusk was previously angry with the drone attack that crossed his airspace.

"We also hope that the drone strike in Poland was a mistake. But it didn't and we know that," Tusk said in X.

On Wednesday morning, Poland shot down a drone in its airspace with the support of military aircraft from its NATO allies.

This is the first time members of the Western military alliance have been known to have opened fire during the Russian war in Ukraine.

Previously, Polish Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk also commented on Trump's statement.

"I think this is a message that should have reached President Trump today: nothing wrong, this is a deliberate Russian attack," he told local TV station Polsat News.

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, who visited Kyiv, also responded to Trump's statement.

"The night 19 Russian unmanned aircraft crossed Poland, 400 (unmanned aircraft) plus 40 missiles crossed Ukraine. This is not a mistake," he said in a video posted on X.

At the request of Poland, the UN Security Council will meet in New York on Friday. The meeting will start at 15.00 local time, the Polish Foreign Ministry said.
