Nusantara Lima Satellite Has Launched, Minister Of Trade Ensures Its Benefits For The Community
JAKARTA - The Nusantara Lima (N5) satellite was successfully launched on Friday, September 12 from Cape Canaveral, United States, using SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket.
Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid emphasized that the 160 Gbps capacity satellite is designed for the benefit of all Indonesian people.
"The Nusantara Lima Satellite is a bridge that connects Indonesia without limits. The fast internet is not only a matter of technology, but a matter of the same opportunity," said Meutya in her official statement.
According to him, with the N5 satellite, children in Maluku and Papua will have the same access to learning as children in Jakarta.
"Patients on small islands can consult with the best doctors, and our MSMEs can compete in the digital world. This is the true meaning of digital equity," added Meutya further.
With a capacity of 160 Gbps, N5 is the largest communication satellite in Southeast Asia. This satellite will occupy the strategic orbit slot 113o East Longitude or gold spot which covers all parts of Indonesia and strengthen connectivity in the eastern region.

N5 is owned by PT. Satellite Nusantara Lima (SNL), a subsidiary of PT. Pacific Satellite Nusantara (PSN), through global cooperation with Boeing Satellite Systems, Hughes Network Systems, and SpaceX.
The government through the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) ensures orbital registration, while maintaining national sovereignty in the management of this satellite.
