Coordinating Minister For Human Rights: Decision To Form A Joint Team To Find Facts Is In The Hands Of President Prabowo

Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections (Menko Kumham Imipas) Yusril Ihza Mahendra stated that the decision to form a Joint Fact Finding Team (TGPF) related to the demonstration that ended in chaos at the end of August 2025 was entirely in the hands of President Prabowo Subianto.

"If he makes that decision, then as his assistant we will facilitate the formation of an independent team to reveal all the facts that have occurred," said Yusril when confirmed in Jakarta, Antara, Friday, September 12.

Yusril revealed in a meeting of a number of figures who are members of the Nation Conscience Movement (GNB) at the State Palace on Thursday, the president listened to aspirations asking for the formation of a special investigation team to uncover the demonstration that caused 10 casualties throughout Indonesia.

Former Minister of Religion Lukman Hakim Saifuddin said President Prabowo agreed to the proposal. However, Yusril said that until Friday afternoon there was no official President's direction for his assistants to follow up.

However, Yusril did not deny that the President considered and considered the idea of forming an investigative team as a good idea.

Coordinating Minister for Human Rights added that according to the President's direction, law enforcement officials had taken various decisive steps to uncover acts of violation of the law during demonstrations that led to chaos.

Mentioned that of the thousands of people arrested, dozens of them have been named as suspects in connection with vandalism, looting, theft, and incitement.

"From checking and taking the field to Polda Metro Jaya, Polda South Sulawesi, and Polrestabes Makassar, I can confirm that decisive steps have been taken against those involved in the demonstration that ended in chaos some time ago," said Yusril.

Previously, President Prabowo was said to have approved the proposal of civil society groups, including GNB, to form an independent investigative commission that investigated a series of riots at the end of August 2025 in Jakarta and other areas.

The riots which were later referred to by NAM as the August 'prahara' were also marked by burning, looting, and causing 10 fatalities, including online motorcycle taxi driver Affan Kurniawan who died after being run over by a Barracuda tactical vehicle belonging to Brimob Polri.

"The president approved the formation, and the details will of course later the Palace will convey the format," said Lukman Hakim Saifuddin representing NAM after a meeting with the President at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Thursday night.
