Bali Floods: TNI AD Build Command Posts And Field Kitchens For Affected Residents

JAKARTA - The ranks of the Indonesian Army deployed their troops to assist the evacuation process for large flood victims in the Bali area.

Head of the Army Information Service (Kadispenad) Brigadier General TNI Wahyu Yudhayana explained to Antara that the personnel deployed were troops from Kodam IX/Udayana.

"Currently more than 300 TNI AD personnel together with the National Police, Basarnas, and related agencies have been deployed at various points," Wahyu said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 12.

Wahyu continued, his personnel were deployed to 147 flood points for 32 landslides spread across Bali. They are tasked with finding victims who were lost in the water and cleaning the environment from mud after the flood.

Not only that, TNI AD soldiers also built refugee posts to accommodate flood victims.

"Kodam IX/Udayana has also established field kitchens and emergency posts as a means of accelerating logistics distribution and handling of refugees," Wahyu explained.

Until now, based on data held by the Indonesian Army, there were 14 deaths due to flooding. Several buildings such as houses and public facilities such as temples, bridges were also damaged due to flooding.

Responding to this, Wahyu representing the Indonesian Army expressed his condolences for the residents who were victims of the flood.

"The Army also wants to express their deep condolences to the victims, as well as we invite the entire community to remain calm, maintain solidarity, and work together with all officers in the field so that Bali can recover quickly and community activities can return to normal," Wahyu explained.
