Deepfake Rises 550 Percent, Komdigi Asks Platforms To Present AI Content Recognition Features
JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria, asked the digital platform to present a checking feature in recognizing artificial intelligence (AI) content to help the public ward off hoaxes and deepfakes.
According to him, based on data from Sensity AI, there has been an increase of at least 550 percent of deepfake content in the last five years.
"I believe the number is much larger because the ability of the application to make video or deepfakes is now very massive," Nezar said in his statement quoted on Thursday, September 11.
Nezar also believes that all digital platforms have computational technology and algorithms that can be used to filter content created by AI on their respective platforms.
"If we doubt one content, it can be checked with the computing power and AI they have. For example on Meta or Google, features like this can be part of the standard service," he explained.
Nezar emphasized that the government is trying to balance innovation with regulations so that the use of AI is not misused as a tool for making hoax content.
