JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that rain will occur in most cities in Indonesia, surrounded by a number of areas experiencing cloudy weather.
BMKG forecaster Ranti Kurniati said that cloudy weather is predicted to occur in Banda Aceh, light rain in Tanjung Pinang, Padang and Palembang, as well as moderate intensity rain in Medan.
Meanwhile, he said, there was also the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in Pekanbaru, Jambi, Bengkulu, Pangkal Pinang and Bandar Lampung.
"For thick clouds of potential in the city of Surabaya, light rain has the potential to occur in the city of Yogyakarta, moderate rain in Serang, Bandung and Semarang. Beware of rain accompanied by lightning in Jakarta," explained Ranti, Thursday, September 11.
In the areas of Bali and Nusa Tenggara, Ranti said the BMKG predicts the potential for cloudy weather in Denpasar and Kupang. And there is the potential for light rain in Mataram.
For Kalimantan Island, there is the potential for light rain in Pontianak, Samarinda, Palangka Raya, moderate rain in Tanjung Selor and rain accompanied by lightning in Banjarmasin.

In Sulawesi, some provincial capitals are forecasted by BMKG to experience cloudy weather, namely Makassar, Kendari and Gorontalo. With the potential for light rain to occur in Manado and Palu as well as heavy rain in the Mamuju area.
For Eastern Indonesia, Ranti explained that only Ambon cities are predicted to experience cloudy weather. Meanwhile, light rain is predicted to occur in Ternate, Sorong, Manokwari, Jayapura, Jayawijaya and Merauke and it is necessary to be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in Nabire.
