GIS Salurkan Bantuan Sarana Pendidikan Dan Sosial Untuk Santri Dan Komunitas Anak Muda Di Jawa Timur

JAKARTA - Ali Yafi (42 years old), Head of the Minhaju Al Ihtida Islamic Boarding School in Situbondo, East Java, expressed his gratitude because the students now have a special room that is more suitable and comfortable for learning activities including Koran. The room renovated by PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) consists of a two-story building that functions as a hall and multipurpose room.

"So far, all teaching and learning activities including the Koran are still being carried out in mosques because there are no rooms that are able to accommodate santri activities. Support from GIS helps us improve the quality of infrastructure for effective and productive learning activities," said Ali Yafi.

He admitted that he was greatly helped, considering that since its establishment in 2000 and was effective in operating in 2007, the Minhaju Al Ihtida Islamic Boarding School has developed independently and is rarely touched by assistance from other parties.

Not only the economic sector, the commitment of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) in the development and empowerment of the community is also manifested in supporting the improvement of the quality of education and encouraging community social positive activities. Through the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, SIG distributes educational facilities and infrastructure assistance, as well as operational facilities and support social activities for religious education institutions and community communities in Situbondo Regency and Bondowoso Regency, East Java.

The assistance distributed includes the construction and renovation of santri dormitories, as well as a concrete fence at the Minhaju Al Ihtida Islamic Boarding School in Jatisari Village, Arjasa District, Situbondo Regency, and 1 pick-up car unit for the operation of social activities for Jamiyah Muhibullah Wajarah in Selomukti Village, Mlandingan District, Situbondo Regency. Meanwhile, in Mangli Village, Pujer District, Bondowoso Regency, SIG distributed operational assistance in the form of 12 units of sound systems, 12 units of generator machines, 1 unit of grass cutting machines, and 1 unit of three-wheeled motors to support the activities of the United Young Generation community.

GIS Corporate Secretary, Vita Mahreyni said, the TJSL GIS program is always intended to provide sustainable benefits for the community. The main focus is on improving the quality of education, as well as aspects of social and economic empowerment, so that it is able to have a wider positive impact. Thus, it is hoped that a superior generation will be born that strengthens the steps to realize Indonesia's vision of Golden 2045.

SIG not only presents sustainable building materials solutions, but also builds communities around the area of operation. We hope that this assistance can improve the comfort and quality of learning of students, support the activities of religious institutions, and strengthen community roles in community social, religious, and productive economic activities. For GIS, success is not only measured by business performance, but also from a real contribution to mutual progress," said Vita Mahreyni, in a written statement, Wednesday, September 10.

In line with Ali Yafi, Chairman of the United Young Movement Community, Anang Rudianto (36 years) admitted that the assistance from GIS greatly helped the continuity of social and religious activities that his community routinely carried out in Bondowoso. Since being active in 2015, the United Youth Movement has been active in holding prayer activities from one village to another.

"So far, we always rent sound systems. Alhamdulillah, now we have our own assistance from GIS. Genset is also very helpful because not all location points have adequate access to electricity, while three-wheeled motorbikes facilitate the transportation of aid equipment and logistics, especially if there are donors who distribute basic food assistance for underprivileged residents around the village. We thank GIS for its concern not only for supporting religious activities, but also strengthening our role in helping the community," said Anang Rudianto.
