Warga Marunda Tolak Tanggul Beton Di Cilincing
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Marunda Flats Community Forum, Didi Suwandi, stated that his party rejected the concrete embankment that crossed the Cilincing coast, North Jakarta.
Didi revealed that the existence of a concrete embankment that has recently been in the spotlight on social media is quite detrimental to fishermen to fish as their main livelihood.
"We reject it because it is very difficult for fishermen because the division of the Marunda and Cilincing seas adds operational costs," Didi told reporters, Wednesday, September 10.
Not only that, Didi assessed that there is a potential for sea water pollution that has an impact on fish at the water level.
Not to mention, Marunda residents are worried that this concrete embankment will exacerbate the impact of coastal flooding or tidal flooding.
"What is certain is that if there is a tidal wave, there will be an expansion of the radius of the impact of the tidal wave. Yesterday, the tidal water entered the flat. In the past, he never entered, after reclamation he entered," said Didi.
Social media was shocked by a concrete embankment in the coastal area of the Cilincing area, North Jakarta. The existence of the embankment was recorded in a video uploaded to the Instagram account @cilinginfo.

The video was recorded by a fishing boat from above the boat. You can see concrete with a length of 2 to 3 kilometers which seems to divide the waters on the north coast of Jakarta. The fisherman revealed that he had to go far to the ocean in order to find fish.
"The concrete embankment on the Cilincing Coast makes it difficult for coastal fishermen to pass. There are approximately 23 kilometers long. Initially, the crossing between fishermen made it difficult to find fish because they had to turn far away from the concrete embankment," said a fisherman in the video.
Until now, it is known who the owner built the concrete embankment. The existence of this new embankment that has drawn public spotlight is still a mystery.
Head of the DKI Jakarta SDA Agency, Ika Agustin Ningrum, emphasized that both the DKI Provincial Government and the central government, in this case the Ministry of Public Works (PU), according to Ika, are currently not doing embankment work at that location.
"This is not the work of the Natural Resources Service and also not the Ministry of Public Works," said Ika.
