Speculation Warms Up, Here Are 4 Strong Candidates For Menpora To Replace Dito Ariotedjo

YOGYAKARTA - The change in position of the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) has become a public conversation after Dito Ariotedjo officially stepped down from his position. Until now, Dito's official name for replacement has not been announced, raising warm speculation about who will continue the leadership relay of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Through uploads on Instagram, Dito himself has said goodbye to the public. He hopes that his successor will be able to continue unfinished programs.

"Thank you to all those who have worked together trying to make changes in youth and sports, hopefully, the next successor will continue," wrote Dito, Monday, April 8.

Dito Ariotedjo left a fairly proud track of achievements. During his tenure since April 2023, he managed to bring Indonesia to win a football gold medal at the 2023 SEA Games, successfully organizing the U-17 World Cup, to the Basketball World Cup.

There are at least four names that stick to the surface as strong candidates to replace Dito. They come from different backgrounds, each carrying its own charm and potentially bringing a new color to the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Here are the four figures.

Puteri Komarudin is a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Golkar Party for the West Java VII electoral district. She is said to be the most powerful candidate as a replacement for Dito Ariotedjo.

Puteri is the daughter of senior politician Ade Komarudin. She is known to be actively fighting for the financial literacy of the younger generation.

Puteri completed her bachelor's degree study at the University of Melbourne. She had worked at the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and was on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list in the Finance & Venture Capital category. She has also led the Indonesian delegation on Youth 20 Summit 2021.

2. Taufik Hidayat

The name Taufik Hidayat also stole the attention. The 2004 Olympic gold medalist and the 2005 World Champion have now served as Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports. He has also previously served as a special staff of the Menpora era, Zainudin Amali.

His background as a world outstanding athlete, plus his experience in the bureaucracy, made him considered ideal for continuing the leadership relay at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

3. Raffi Ahmad

Raffi Ahmad's name may be the most surprising. As the top artist and owner of the RANS Nusantara FC football club, he was appointed by President Prabowo as the Presidential Special Envoy for the Development of the Young Generation and Art Workers.

Raffi Ahmah reportedly rejected the Menpora's offer for fear of causing pros and cons in society. Even so, his influence among young people and the entertainment world kept him on the radar of ministerial candidates.

4. Moreno Soeprapto

Former international racer, Moreno Soeprapto is also referred to as a candidate for the Menpora. He is now active as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Gerindra Party. Moreno has excelled in the Asian Formula 3 Championship, BMW Asia Formula, and finally at the 2024 Porsche Sprint Challenge Indonesia (PSCI).

With this experience, Moreno is considered ready to replace Dito Ariotedjo. If trusted to be Menpora, he has the opportunity to connect athletes' aspirations with government regulations more effectively.

With four candidates coming from different backgrounds, the competition towards the Menpora seat is even more interesting to follow. The public is now waiting for who is finally chosen as the best figure to continue the leadership relay of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Whoever is elected, the challenges ahead are clearly not light. The empowerment of youth, increasing sports achievements, and strengthening Indonesia's role in the international arena is a big task that must be continued.
