BYD Launches Fang Cheng Bao Tai 7 PHEV, A Luxury SUV Challenging GWM Tank 300
JAKARTA – BYD, through its sub-brand Fang Cheng Bao, has officially launched the Tai 7 PHEV, the second model in its Tai series, following the Tai 3. Its presence further enriches the choices in the modern SUV segment with its more family-oriented design and technology.
Citing CNevpost, Wednesday, September 10, the Tai 7 is marketed starting at 179,800 yuan (approximately IDR 415 million). This price is considered competitive compared to its main rival, the Tank 300 Hi4-T, which starts at 249,800 yuan (IDR 577 million). This five-seat SUV model is available in four variants to meet different consumer needs.
Interestingly, the Tai 7 is Fang Cheng Bao's first SUV to utilize a unibody design, making it not only robust but also more user-friendly for daily use and family needs, unlike other Bao series that focus on off-road styling.
Dimensionally, this car stands tall, measuring 4,999 mm in length, 1,995 mm in width, 1,865 mm in height, and with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm. The sharp lines of the exterior emphasize the masculine character typical of premium SUVs.
Entering the interior, a luxurious atmosphere is immediately felt, especially in the second row which is equipped with two sophisticated entertainment screens developed by BYD itself.
Under the hood, the Tai 7 relies on a combination of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 154 hp and 225 Nm of torque, supported by a powerful electric motor.
The entry-level variant uses front-wheel drive with a single motor, producing 200 kW of power and 315 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h can be achieved in 7.5–7.9 seconds.
The higher-end variant is equipped with all-wheel drive with dual motors. Its power output is significantly greater: 0–100 km/h acceleration takes just 4.5 seconds. The front motor produces 160 kW/260 Nm, while the rear motor produces 200 kW/360 Nm.
For cruising range, the base variant uses a 26.6 kWh battery with a CLTC range of 135 km. The other three variants have a 35.6 kWh battery with a range of 170–200 km. With a 60-liter fuel tank, the total range can reach over 1,300 km on a full charge.
The top-of-the-line Tai 7 is also equipped with the God's Eye B intelligent driving system based on the DiPilot 300, complete with a LiDAR sensor. The other three variants rely on the God's Eye C with the DiPilot 100, without LiDAR.
