Nottingham Forest officially sacked coach Nuno Esp minerito Santo just three games after the 2025 '26 season. This decision shocked many, considering that Nuno had just brought Forest to record last season's history.

Nuno joined Forest in December 2023 and successfully brought the club through to European competition for the first time since the 1995'96 season. In an official statement, the club said, "Nottingham Forest Football Club confirms that, after considering the latest situation, Nuno Esp sacrito Santo today has been officially relieved of his position as Head Coach. Although it sounds surprising, this news has actually been predicted for a long time. The relationship between Nuno and club owner Evangelos Marinakis has reportedly deteriorated since the end of last season. The two were even seen arguing after the draw against Leicester City at the end of the 2024 season 25.

The situation got hotter after Nuno was said to be involved in a dispute with Edu Gaspar, former Technical Director of Arsenal who now serves as Global Head of Football at Forest.

Although many believe Nuno will be fired before the new season begins, he still leads the team in the first three Premier League games with four points. Overall, Nuno left Forest after leading 73 matches with a record 32 wins, 26 defeats, and 15 draws.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Forest has prepared three replacement candidates, one of whom is the former manager of Tottenham Hotspur, Ange Postecoglou. This decision will be an important moment for Forest to maintain momentum after their most successful season in the last three decades.
